A recent trip to Bangalore was planned with my dear colleagues/ friends. Yeah, it happened last weekend. The place where we had spent our lovely 4 years of life after started to work. It’s been quite a while, almost 9/10 months we haven’t been there. We felt we are missing that climate, food and memories of course. This trip was planned not to visit anyone, but just to carry forward and cherish the sweet and nice memories of myself and my dear friends.
When we remember this city it quickly recollects us with lot of past incidents and fun-times we had over the period of time. When it comes to weekends there, it reminds us a lot of things like getting up very late in the morning; approach a near-by mess to have a brunch (full meals in full swing); again come back to room and have good sleep; go for a night dinner again and finally back to bed. We did spend sometime in watching movies at night in some near-by local (Balaji, Mahalakshmi) and bit far decent theatres (PVR, INOX).
During our working period there, any tension or stress at office during the weekday’s gets easily waived off when we step into our room foreseeing an attractive weekend. And of course the weekend goes really nice while spending with friends. In parallel we have started discovering lot of hotels, coffee shops where we can hang around for a while just to have 1 or 2 hours of chat. These above said reasons did provoke a thought in us to plan for the trip there.
We have decided to stay in cousin’s house of one my friend who accompanied us. The main plan behind the trip is to cover all the good hotels, corner house (tasty ice-cream parlor), barista (coffee shop inside a 7-star Leela Palace) and a movie watch at PVR forum. The situation is like we have 2 days to spend and it gave us lot of hotel options to have lots of yummy food. Discussions started among us as soon as the train tickets are booked. Lot of hotel names like Tangerine, Mandarin, Empire, Krishna café were put in-front. We have decided finally on 3 places and decided to have a feast at corner house ice cream parlor, coffee at Barista.
We have been invited by one of our colleague (casually called as ‘Athimbaer’) for a Saturday’s lunch at his home. We have been told already to be bit careful; as he grows 2 breeds of giant pet dogs (German shepherd and other one not sure) at his home. He and his wife (casually called as ‘Mami’) came out of their house to welcome us. Fortunately those dogs were tied with rope and somehow we have managed to get into his home. I felt bit relived then. They belongs to Brahmin community and so the lunch what they offered us was awesome (Vatta kozhambu, poriyal, variety pappads and salad). It was a heavy lunch and we had a good time with them there. And now it’s the evening time and we have already planned to go for a movie at PVR multiplex. We did watch ‘Eeram’ - A thrilling Tamil movie there and lot of refreshment for eyes has been taken care too inside forum shopping mall. Movie got over and we have decided to go for dinner feast in one of the hotel which is present in our wish list. We had a profound dinner at Tangerine and we came back to our house for a sound sleep. We were so tired and we slept as soon we fall down on the bed.
Hunger alarm woke up all of us on Sunday morning. But still we have decided to skip our breakfast. Why so?? It’s not to compensate for the heavy dinner what we had previous night, but for the weighty lunch what we are going to have on Sunday afternoon. We rushed into Krishna café for a brunch at around 12pm and our feast carried on for half an hour with at least 3 rounds of rice. Still we are not yet done. We are waiting for 4pm to come so that we can go and have a cup of coffee at Barista and it did happen. Also we have spent 1 hour in Bowling at Amoeba. One of my friends is bit passionate on this game and he did prove himself as the best by winning the game among 4 of us. Well played dude!! . Now the time is 6 pm and its time to have 2/3 scoops of yummy ice-cream at Corner house parlor. This place is so famous and good for this. So its better not to miss this place right and we did swallow a lot. We spent 1 or 2 hours roaming here and there and awaiting for dinner time to come. Time passed so soon and we have reached Empire, the so called famous hotel for non-vegetarians especially for the grilled chicken. We did, sorry this time I did had a huge feast and the dinner was awesome and unforgettable.
We have covered all the places where we wished to spend and now its time to get the train to come back to Chennai. Though we have started back to Chennai as guests our thoughts and cherishing memories still prevails in Bangalore as hosts.
