It requires a lot of courage and will power to accept that you have a habit that has to be changed. You must feel very good about yourself. It is no easy task to accept one's weaknesses. Current estimates are that over 1 billion people in the world smoke. In other words, approximately one in three adults on the planet smokes. The total number of smokers worldwide is expected to keep increasing. These people are at higher risk of heart attack and stroke.
Most smokers begin early in life, before they are 25 years old. People all over the world are trying to quit. Many people use smoke to escape bad feelings or memories. Anger, Depression, Fatigue, Loneliness, Stress could be one of the major reasons which will urge us to smoke. The more educated and better informed people are, the more likely they are to stop smoking.
Quitting tobacco is a process. It doesn't happen overnight, but compared to the amount of time most of us spent smoking, recovery can be very quick, indeed. Have patience with yourself! This new skill takes some time to sharpe up, but you'll get better at it. Surround yourself with people who don't smoke. Friends who smoke may put pressure on you to continue smoking. If you don't want to give up relationships with your smoking friends, make a point not to hang out with them at least for a little while as you begin your attempt to quit.
Have a snack or a meal. If you are hungry, food is the answer, not a cigarette! If you're concerned about weight gain, try drinking water to help control between meal eating. Try different stress-busters like walking, exercise, a short nap, meal, coffee/Tea, fruits instead of cigaratte when you need a boost.
In case during the quitting process, what if you smoke again? Don't feel like a failure. Think about why you smoked and what you can do to keep from smoking again. Set a new stop date. Many ex-smokers did not succeed at first, but they kept trying. The first few days after stopping will probably be the hardest. Just remember that even one puff on a cigarette can cause a reversion, so don't risk it.
Smokers please take it seriously and your life depends on your decision only. Be mentally strong enough to take a good decision by staying away from Cigarattes. Don't give way to Cancer.
